Pakistan Air Space is Violated By Indian Air Force: Pakistan

Islamabad: Pakistan authorities said that Indian air force violated its air space on Saturday inadvertently. Indian war planes covered up to 7.4km distance into the Lahore and Azad Kashmir sectors. The Information Minister of Pakistan, Sherry Rehman said that Pakistan’s air force has taken no action this time but the country would not allow this to escalate. Pakistan’s air force is ready to face any eventuality. She said,” There is no need for alarm. We have spoken to the Indian air force and they have said it was inadvertent.”

However, highly place sources in India have ruled out any violation of Pakistani air space. Earlier, Pakistan had also alleged threatening phone call from the Indian external affairs minister, Pranab Mukherjee. India termed the allegation baseless and said that Pakistan is trying to divert the attention of international community.

Air Commodore of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) said, “Both the Indian aircraft entered into Pakistan’s airspace between two to four nautical miles at two different sectors.” PAF immediately apprised President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani about the incident and raised the issue with India through proper channels.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Gen Tariq Majeed met president, Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday and discussed situation in the aftermath of the Mumbai attacks. He briefed him regarding preparedness of the armed forces.
