Dravid may have failed to put an end to his failures in Chennai, but the former captain continues to receive the backing of all the men who matter including the selectors.
However, there are suggestions from the five wise men that he should take a break from the game so he can regain his focus and come back afresh.
Reports suggest that after the win in the Chennai Test, chairman of selectors Krishnamachari Srikkanth had a closed door meeting with Dravid amidst the team celebrations. It is understood that he suggested a break for Dravid.
The chairman of selectors is even learnt to have offered to Dravid to bat down the order at number five instead of his regular number three position; and have VVS Laxman bat at number three. The Wall was offered a central contract on Monday and more importantly retained in Grade ‘A’ despite his poor form over the last one year.
