Antulay Resigns, Seeks Probe Into Karkare Death

NEW DELHI: Indian Union Minority Affairs Minister AR Antulay resigned here Friday, bowing under pressure from the public, media and his own partymen after his controversial remarks on the death of former Mumbai ATS chief Hemant Karkare.

Antulay sent his resignation letter to the Prime Minister, which said “I hereby tender my resignation to you and pray to accept and oblige”.

Ironically, Abdul Rahman Antulay remains defiant over his remarks and did not regret or apologise.

Antulay, the most popular Muslim face in the Congress, has sought a probe into Hemant Karkare’s death in the letter written to Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. He also blamed the media for ‘distorting’ his remarks. According to sources, the PM is yet to accept AR Antulay’s resignation.
