Lawyers Observe Hunger Strike,Boycott Courts


LAHORE: The lawyers in the provincial capital observed boycott of the courts and staged protest camps to step up the pressure for the restoration of judges, here on Thursday.

Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) and District Bar Association observed full day strike following the decision of National Lawyers Coordination Council and no one appeared before the courts to press ahead for their demands.

Meanwhile, Lahore High Court Bar and Save the Judiciary committee (SJC) also set up protest camps in the compound of LHCBA in which Aitzaz Ahsan President Supreme Court Bar,Ali Ahmad Kurd ex-Vice Chairman Pakistan Bar Council, Anwar Kamal President LHCBA,Hafiz Abdul Rehman Ansari Member PBC,Abdul Rasheed Qureshi President SJC and large number of other lawyers participated and expressed solidarity with the deposed judges.

The protesters chanted slogans in favour of the deposed judges and called for “independent judiciary.”

They demanded that government should restore all the deposed judges, including Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary immediately.
