Boucher, Malik Agree To Step Up Cooperation On Terror War


ISLAMABAD: US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Richard Boucher arrived in Pakistan for a one-day visit on Saturday.

Richard Boucher and Interior Adviser Rehman Malik, in a meeting, agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation on war against terrorism. He also exchanged views with the Interior Adviser on ongoing military operation in tribal areas.

US Ambassador N.W. Patterson and Secretary Interior Kamal Shah were also present on this occasion.

Sources told that US would give training to the personnel of Frontier Corps and provide night vision goggles to Pakistani forces in order to counter the militants during nights. Interior advisor apprised Boucher of China’s visit, according to sources.

Boucher is also likely to meet Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other important figures in the government.
