Fringe Pak channels declare ‘war’

War between India and Pakistan has broken out on a different front - fringe channels in Pakistan cross the line and accuse Indian media of being biased.

“After the accusations hurled at Pakistan without any shred of evidence, the Indian media has left no stone unturned to blame Pakistan for the Mumbai terror attack”, Pak media said.

Extreme reactions have come in from the Pakistani media, lambasting Indian intelligence forces and the Indian media of pointing fingers at Pakistani soon after the attack.

The Pak media claimed, “The Pakistan Army Spokesperson has said that Indian media is coming to hasty conclusions about Indo-Pak relations”.

Questioning the Indian media’s credibility and demanding evidence that points to a Pakistani link, the media said, “The ongoing drama in India over the terror strike marks the beginning of the end of Indian federation. This is an intelligence ploy which went terribly wrong.

While some have a very subdued stand saying, “Even if a cracker is burst in India, fingers are pointed at Pakistan.” Others are taking a very aggressive line even bringing in the Samjhauta express blast to the Mumbai terror plot.

“Anytime there is a terror strike in India, small or big, like we have witnessed at the Taj and Oberoi hotel the first piece of information that came out was that Muslims were involved, Pakistan was involved. Well, even Pakistan has seen attacks, the Marriott hotel has been attacked, Pakistani leaders have been attacked but we have never blamed or accused India or the RAW”, the media said.

The TV channels and newspapers are blaming the Indian media of being too nationalist and going all out to project Pakistan as the enemy, blaming India of half-truths.

“The Indian media is overcommitted to projecting India as a success story. They are not used to reporting State failures. They are used to reporting India as a country where nothing bad happens, its Army as the best thing in the world. It projects its heroes as supermen, taller than the Himalayas. So the gap between what the Indian media are committed to reporting, and the crass state failure they had to do report (in Bombay), they ended up filling it with lies”, said Talat Hussain, Senior journalist.

The conflict between India and Pakistan has always been marked by sharp rhetoric but this time the Pakistani media has outdone itself.
