NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Friday that his country was hurt and angry as "never before" over last week's attacks by militants in Mumbai. "We have told the world that the people of India have felt a sense of hurt and anger as never before due to the Mumbai terror strikes," Singh said. Singh said that he had conveyed his feelings to visiting Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, the first head of state to arrive in India since the assault on Mumbai.
"I conveyed to President Medvedev the sense of anger and outrage in India over the terrorist attacks in Mumbai," Singh told reporters after talks with Medvedev.
"We deeply appreciate Russia's expression of solidarity with India at this moment. We both agreed that these attacks represent a threat to all open and pluralistic societies," the premier said. The attacks "require a major intensification of efforts against supporters and perpetrators of terrorism anywhere in the world", the prime minister said.
