Mommy’s girl: Vidya

When it came to expressing her love for her mother and celebrating her mother’s birthday which was on November 22, Vidya Balan left no stone

unturned.

She saw to it that she was with her mother despite shooting in far away Wai for Vishal Bharadwaj’s Ishqiya.

Vishal is known to be very particular when it comes to discipline and punctuality. He does not entertain disturbances like mobiles on his sets, so permitting Vidya to travel down to Mumbai for a day or two to celebrate her mother’s birthday, given that her co-stars’ (Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi) dates and schedules would go haywire, was simply out of question.

But Vidya wasn’t ready to give up so easily, she came up with an idea that suited everyone perfectly. She invited her mother and sister to Wai, on the outskirts of Pune, to spend the day with her. A source present on the sets said, “Knowing that she wouldn’t be able to spend the day with her mother, Vidya invited her sister and mother to Wai. She organised a special bash for everyone on the sets.”

“Vidya’s mother not only came but also got lots of Mysorepaak (a South Indian sweet) which she had prepared. She’s known to be a great cook so we had demanded that she bring us some homemade stuff,” the source added

When contacted, Vidya confirmed the story and said, “It was a very special day for me. I’ve been away shooting in Wai for a month and was missing my family a lot. I really wanted to be with mom on her birthday and I am glad she could come to Wai.”
