Protester Killed During Held Kashmir Voting

SRINAGAR: Police say a protester was shot and killed and several others were wounded in clashes with government forces during voting in Indian Kashmir.

Police Chief B. Srinivas says a 20-year-old man died of his wounds after police opened fire Saturday to control a protest at Koil village in Palwama, about 16 miles (25 kilometers) south of Srinagar.

Three security men were also wounded in stone pelting by the angry mob.

In the fifth phase of the election in held Kashmir voters were casting their ballots in 11 constituencies of the three districts under stringent security.
