Pakistan-Afghan Mini-Jirga From Tomorrow


PESHAWAR: Mini-jirga between Pakistan and Afghanistan is beginning here tomorrow, which would mainly focus on the modus operandi of bringing Taliban and other militants’ groups on the table for dialogues. Elders from both sides of the Durand Line will be participating in the 25-member mini-jirga. NWFP Governor, Owais Ahmad Ghani will be heading the Pakistan delegation comprising of Awami National Party Chief, Asfandyar Wali, former minister G. G. Kamal, Afrasyab Khattak, Maulana Muhammad Khan Shirani and Sardar Yaqub Khan Nasir. Afghan delegation will constitute of the members of the parliament led by former Foreign Minister, Abdullah Abdullah. The mini-jirga will also mull over the modes of boosting cooperation for peace between the tribesmen on both sides of the border.
