Guwahati: Seven serial blasts rocked Assam on Thursday morning, killing at least five people and injuring over 50. While four blasts took place in Guwahati, one each occurred in Barpeta, Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar districts of the northeastern state.
In Guwahati, the blasts reportedly took place in Ganeshguri, District Court Area Fancy Bazaar and Paan Bazaar.
TV channels showed footage of extensive damage, with cars going up in flames. It is believed that the bombs in Guwahati were placed in cars.
According to reports, the blasts took place within a span of one hour.
Injured have been rushed to the hospital.
Police suspect the hand of ULFA rebels in the blasts.
